Position Title: Senior Adviser - WHS Consulting Services
Team: Work Health and Safety (WHS) Consulting Services Team
Reports To: National Manager - WHS Consulting Services
Location: Sydney, New South Wales (with potential for travel to other locations)
Role Purpose:
The Senior Adviser is responsible for delivering and managing chargeable Work Health Safety (WHS) consulting services to AI Group members, primarily in New South Wales but potentially across other locations. This role involves identifying consulting opportunities, leading projects, developing proposals, and ensuring compliance with WHS standards and regulations. Additionally, the Senior Adviser will contribute to policy representation, training events, and industry engagement in collaboration with the National Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Consulting Service Delivery:
- Identify opportunities, develop proposals, and negotiate arrangements for chargeable WHS Consulting Services.
- Deliver consulting services in accordance with client proposals, ensuring work is completed within agreed timelines.
- Coordinate and manage WHS consulting projects, balancing workload, timelines, and client expectations.
Member Engagement:
- Visit a minimum of one member per week to assess needs and propose WHS consulting opportunities.
- Record all member and non-member interactions in the CRM and/or Affinity system within 48 hours.
- Ensure all consulting work is properly documented and invoiced, in alignment with established procedures.
Project Management:
- Oversee the implementation of WHS consulting projects, ensuring work is completed in line with the approved proposals.
- Ensure compliance with Ai Group's national systems and procedures related to WHS services.
- Facilitate Workplace Advice Line member inquiries related to WHS and workers' compensation matters.
Team Collaboration:
- Actively participate in the national WHS consulting services team, contributing technical expertise and sharing knowledge.
- Provide leadership support to the local team, contributing to achieving business goals and operational outcomes.
- Attend and contribute to team and stakeholder meetings to stay updated on services, regulations, and industry trends.
Business Development & Marketing:
- Lead at least one marketing campaign per year, including content creation (e.g., blog articles, webinars, marketing emails).
- Promote Ai Group's WHS services by attending marketing events and fostering relationships with key stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement:
- Support the ongoing development of training events, workshops, and seminars to improve the delivery of services to members.
- Participate in activities aimed at expanding Ai Group's WHS consulting services footprint.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Member Engagement:
- Minimum of one member visit per week, with corresponding consulting opportunities documented in CRM.
- All interactions to be recorded within 48 hours.
Service Delivery:
- Consulting projects completed within agreed timelines and to client satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with internal systems and reporting standards.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Active participation in team meetings, providing insights, peer reviews, and technical expertise.
- Support team members and collaborate to achieve business outcomes.
Business Development & Marketing:
- Successfully lead and execute one marketing campaign annually, contributing to the growth of consulting services.

Internal Contacts:
- National WHS Consulting Services Team: Collaborate on project delivery, technical expertise, and consulting services.
- National Manager - WHS Consulting Services: Receive guidance on strategic business and operational decisions.
- Workplace Advice Line: Support with inquiries related to WHS and workers' compensation.
External Contacts:
- WHS Regulators: Network to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry representation.
- Ai Group Members: Provide regular advice on WHS and workers' compensation issues.
- Apprentice and Trainee Centre (ATC) Host Employers: Conduct pre-placement inspections and provide guidance on safety compliance.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education/Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS, Environment, Engineering, or related field.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training and/or Auditing Qualifications.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years' hands-on experience in WHS improvement activities and management.
- Strong knowledge of WHS, risk management, safety culture, incident investigation, and legislation.
- Experience in delivering WHS services to a diverse range of businesses.
Skills:
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage small teams and mentor colleagues.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written), with a focus on technical reporting and presentations.
- High attention to detail, with strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships and drive business development.
Other:
- Professional membership of a relevant safety or workers' compensation association (e.g., Risk Management Institute of Australasia, Australian Institute of Health and Safety).
- Understanding of workers' compensation management, return-to-work planning, and premiums.
