TITLE: Safety Business Partner
1. ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
REPORTS TO: General Manager, Safety
INDIRECTLY REPORTS TO: Regional General Manager
2. JOB SUMMARY

The Safety Business Partner works closely with the Regional Operational General Manager and their team to ensure that the client safety systems and processes are implemented in accordance with the relevant safety legislation and regulations, client policy, procedures, and operating guidelines.
In addition, the role supports the Safety Systems Manager to support the consolidation of training provided in the use of safety systems and processes to ensure that all client personnel (and contractors where appropriate) utilise safety tools competently and consistently across the organisation.
The Safety Business Partner will also contribute to development and maintenance of the centralised safety management system and undertake limited safety project work as directed by the General Manager, Safety.
3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operational Responsibilities (4 days per Week 80%)
* Lead Regional Safety Initiatives/Activities.
* Undertake risk assessments and implementing effective strategies to mitigate risks.
* Designing and delivering training sessions that align with relevant ISO certification standards.
* Build client systems, templates, and enhance contractor capacity for effective risk management.
* Mentor/Support Operational staff in the field to develop sound skills to successfully integrate, deliver and review safe systems of work within the field environment.
* Develop and participate in a program of audits/inspections for client Contractors in consultation with General Manager, Safety and Operational General Manager.
* Enter safety training for safety training in client Safety Management Systems.
* Ensure data entered into the client Safety Systems is complete, actioned and closed out in a timely manner.
* Participate in Operational Forums and Working Groups that are intended to improve worker safety as requested by General Manager, Safety/Regional General Manager.
* Coordinate Regional Contractor Safety Audit Program with Regional Lead Team.
Corporate Responsibilities (1 day per Week 20%)
The role shall also be required to work closely with General Manager, Safety to deliver on Functional responsibilities and to establish professional development opportunities as outlined below:
* Lead/Collaborate on safety and wellbeing related projects as directed by General Manager, Safety.
* Participate in working groups and forums pertaining to safety both within client and on behalf of client at external forums (AFPA/AFCA).
* Draft Safety Documentation as requested by General Manager, Safety for approval by appropriate client officer.
* Champion and support the implementation of safety initiatives at regional levels.
* Participate in compulsory training and engagement sessions as detailed below.
Other Duties
* Other duties as directed by client from time to time as reasonably required in the best interests of client even if inconsistent with the nature of the above-mentioned duties.
* Contribute to Regional fire preparedness and suppression activities by performing weekend and weekday standby, communications duties, and operational command roles on the fire line, and in the incident control centre. Responsibilities will vary on fire circumstances and individual training and experience. Regional fire management is part of this role.
4. OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION
This position is located at the main regional office, with duties across the region. Work in our Melbourne Office will be required from time to time (2 days per month) to deliver this role.
At times, work in other parts Victoria will be required - particularly when involved in fire-fighting activities.
A current Australian driver's license is mandatory for this position.

Qualifications: Minimum
Cert IV Safety and more than 3 years in a similar role is preferred for this role.
Candidates with suitable experience managing safety across a range of industries may also be considered.
Professional Development: The Safety Business Partner shall be provided the opportunity to develop/maintain professional skills as required by the role, and as approved by General Manager, Safety in agreement with the Operational General Manager.

6. Key Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated experience and understanding of high risk operations, particularly Contractor Safety Management experience.
* Demonstrated ability to understand risk assessments and implement effective strategies to mitigate risks.
* Proven capability to implement systems collaboratively with contractors and staff.
* Extensive experience in building systems, templates, and fostering relationships to enhance contractor capacity for effective risk management.
* Expertise in designing and delivering training sessions that align with relevant ISO certification standards for best practice.
* Demonstrated experience in embedding change within an organisation to ensure lasting improvements.
* Creativity in engaging operational teams and a diverse workforce to effectively communicate key learning outcomes.
* A strong track record in minimising or eliminating future incidents through proactive safety measures.
* Leadership skills with the ability to engage and influence others.
* Excellent communication skills.
* A positive outlook and good relationship management skills.
